Drills - Slow, Travel and Layers

Workshop Description

Workshop is based on constant drilling of movements for better balance, level changes and isolated movements.

* Learn to drill and repeat movements for better muscle memory
    and conditioning. 

* Learn to add variety to your dancing by changing the speed of your dancing

* Practice hitting every point during each movement so you can really feel how to correctly move

* Work together with fellow troupe mates to match timing and look of the moves

* Drill moves slowly while adding layers, such as level changes and arms

*  Drill various moves while traveling

*  Drill with layered movements

* Workshop is geared towards General Levels, so it is ideal for all levels of dance.  May also be used as a troupe dynamics workshop.

Workshop Description

Shake your shimmy into high gear with this great practice workshop.  Find out how Chandani is able to maintain her shimmies for an extended period of time and through a variety of layered movements. 

* Learn how to do a "fast shimmy" (aka vibration, earthquake, etc.) through different parts of the body. 

* Discover how to use different sources to create shimmies, strengthening exercises for maintaining a shimmy, and practice using different fast shimmy intensities. 

* Practice taking shimmies to the next level by adding layering, traveling and using different forms of the shimmy. 

* Also includes and introduction of the Egyptian Straight leg
    shimmy.

Learn the basics to playing the Middle Eastern Tabla drum.



* Includes history and explanation of Middle Eastern music and drums including handouts

* Learn basic drumming strokes for the Tabla and how to play 2 - 6 Middle Eastern rhythms
